Son of Uisneach
Ardan mac Uisneach was the youngest of the three sons of Uisneach — the third brother who went into exile in Scotland when Naoíse took Deirdre from Conchobar mac Nessa‘s court, and who was killed with his brothers on their return.
He lived in Scotland with his brothers in honourable service to Scottish kings until Conchobar sent Fergus mac Róich as a guarantor of safe return. When Conchobar broke that guarantee, Ardan was killed alongside Naoíse and Ainnle — three brothers, one treachery, one day. The youngest of the three most beautiful warriors of Ulster court was the last death in a betrayal that drove Fergus mac Róich out of Ulster and into Medb‘s court at Connacht.
